Many of Power of Putnam’s prevention initiatives happen “behind the scenes,” however, some of them are targeted to a particular audience. By providing the following services, we seek to engage, inform, and empower citizens on an individual level so that in turn, they may further our mission of creating a safe and drug free community.

The Power of Putnam staff members are certified prevention specialists qualified to develop and facilitate trainings for professional audiences in some of the following areas:

  • ATOD (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs)
  • Drug Seeking Behavior
  • Prescription Drug Safety
  • ATOD and the Law (such as Social Host Law)
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Other areas of prevention

Power of Putnam promotes community support of Responsible Beverage Service. Jennifer Matthews, Assistant Director, has been certified to offer TopShelf Responsible Beverage Service On-Premise and Off-Premise programs.

TopShelf responsible beverage service is a training program for servers of alcoholic beverages that equip the participants with knowledge, understanding, awareness, skills, and confidence.

Our staff is always willing to visit your school or class. We can tailor educational presentations and interactive workshops which engage students in critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, and social-emotional learning on a variety subjects, including but certainly not limited to alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, bullying, violence, self-esteem, diversity etc. Almost any subject which promotes the positive development of students’ health, safety, and character is within our purview.

Power of Putnam supports Quit4Life tobacco cessation classes. Quit4Life uses a health education approach to explain the hazards of tobacco use in combination with tips and support for how to quit and stay smoke free. Two classes are available at no cost.
